Anyone can get P.T.S.D.

Post-traumatic stress disorder is generally brought on by a psychologically traumatic event. It is a deep emotional wound caused by trauma, and is a normal response to an abnormal situation or event which has overwhelmed normal coping skills.

Examples of traumatic events include a natural disaster, wartime combat duty, vicarious trauma, major surgery, kidnapping, a serious accident, abuse, rape or assault.

Physical symptoms of P.T.S.D. include flash backs, panic attacks, anxiety, tension, anger, fatigue, suffocating feelings, trembling, digestive tract problems and rapid breathing.

Fatigue can be emotional, mental and spiritual and manifest as fear, moodiness, loss of confidence, confusion, and hopelessness and despair.

Much work has been done in Rwanda and Kosovo by teams of trained volunteers using the Thought Field Therapy technique of Energy Psychotherapy.  Many survivors of genocide suffering from the symptoms of P.T.S.D. have been helped by the volunteers and some have gone on to help others within their communities.

Benefits of this technique include:

  1. It does not require the client to talk about their troubles
  2. It appears to do no harm
  3. It is extraordinarily powerful, in that clients receive nearly
    immediate relief from their suffering
  4. The treatment appears to be permanent
  5. It can be taught to nearly anyone, so that clients can also treat themselves
