My Counselling Philosophy
While much of my work focuses on loss and grief situations, and assisting my clients to gradually integrate the loss of a loved one into their lives, I also find that underlying many of my other clients’ bothersome symptoms of anxiety, panic attacks, depression and addictions are ‘unconscious childhood wounds’, wounds which still cause them difficulties today as adults.
Obviously, not everyone's childhood has been abusive or clearly traumatic, but I frequently find that the child can also experience ‘wounding’ from seemingly normal events.
The actual list of events and happenings is quite extensive, and can often be more about the child’s perception of the event and how it affects them, rather than the event itself.
These ‘unconscious wounds’ appear to be stored as anxiety or trauma in the body and can have a significant negative emotional and sometimes physical impact on the adult, when the appropriate unconscious memory buttons are pushed in the here and now.
The holistic blend of counselling techniques and therapies I utilise, have been found world-wide, to ease the intensity of the emotional pain associated with ‘childhood wounds’, grief & loss, the effects of trauma, (PTSD), and anxiety disorders and the techniques I use are frequently successful where other therapies haven’t been.
