Home Energy Psychotherapy

Dr Roger Callaghan, a clinical psychologist and pioneer in Cognitive Therapy in the United States originally developed Thought Field Therapy over twenty years ago. A few years later engineer, Gary Craig who studied with Callaghan developed his streamlined, “all purpose” version of Energy Psychotherapy called Emotional Freedom Techniques.

Both of these techniques are now being used professionally throughout Australia and world-wide by psychologists, psychiatrists and counsellors to successfully ease the emotional pain of loss and grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, anger and stress and more.

Energy Psychotherapy which has been called “psychological acupressure”, involves stimulating the body’s energy system by gently tapping with the finger tips on specific points on the head and body, whilst the client focuses their thoughts on the emotional pain they are feeling (i.e. sad/angry). This odd sounding approach skilfully applied, amazingly has been found to reduce or even eliminate anxiety and psychological/emotional pain.

Typically, the result is lasting, and anyone can learn this technique and use it to help themselves outside of the therapy room.

In addition to the psychological benefits, research into these techniques has also shown measurable physiological changes such as improvements in oxygen levels in live blood samples, after just a few minutes of therapy, and it is also common for people to report relief from painful physical conditions.
